@cbcnews: Canada is in its ultra-low fertility era, according to Statistics Canada. The agency has tracked a steady decline in the number of babies being born, with a record-low rate of 1.25 children per woman, based on 2024 data. The trend isn’t unique to Canada, though, with other G7 countries like Germany and Japan facing similar challenges. CBC’s Jennifer Yoon went to South Korea, which has the lowest fertility rate in the world, to see how officials there are tackling the issue and to find out if Canada can learn from their efforts. #Canada #SouthKorea #BirthRate #Moment #CBCNews

Affordability and climate change need to be addressed. It’s hard to want to bring kids into the world with all the doom and gloom.

We need to reduce seniors benefits in favour of young people. Most of our social spending is healthcare and Old Age Security. Other social democracies like the UK and Australia are in the same situation.

It's a math problem. Cost of living, rate of inflation, stagnant wages, minimal raises, lack of stable employment means no one is safe ... 😒

Canada needs to force all provinces to include a certain number of IUI/IVF cycles in their health care coverage, as Quebec has long done and now Ontario and BC too. IVF is $20,000/cycle in my city, and most people need at least a few rounds of it

maybe stop treating the young people, with or without kids, like they dont deserve a prosperous future more than companies deserve profits

I literally have had to swallow my grief and accept im never going to get to have kids. not because im infertile or anything medically, but because I cant afford to. I literally cry because I really really want to start a family, but I cant even afford groceries, or find a second job.

Higher maternity pay, parent specific parking everywhere, formula becoming prescription covered, more baby friendly activities, cheaper daycare or payments for family members who babysit
