Tarwa N-Tiniri is a Moroccan Amazigh (Berber) desert blues band from Ouarzazate, formed in 2012. Their name means “Children of the Desert.” They mix traditional Amazigh music with modern desert blues and sing about desert life, identity, and social issues. They are often mistaken for Tuareg bands because they share hypnotic guitar riffs, repetitive desert rhythms, call-and-response vocals, and poetic themes about the Sahara, freedom, identity, and hardship. Both come from Saharan Amazigh cultures tied to oral tradition and desert life. However, Tarwa N-Tiniri are Moroccan Amazigh, while Tuareg bands like Tinariwen are Kel Tamasheq.
