@clearcreekadventureranch: Marge, our Heritage Turkey, has been non stop sitting on an egg for over a month now—longer than she should have had to. For more than 30 days, she has barely left that egg even for a moment. She stayed committed and determined, waiting for a baby that was never going to hatch. It broke our hearts knowing all of her hard work wasn’t going to pay off. So today, we decided to try something. We bought two turkey poults and slipped them under her while removing the egg. The moment she realized those babies were there, she started making sounds we’ve never heard before. She immediately pulled them under her wings, fluffed up her feathers, and began vibrating with excitement. You could tell she was happy. These little turkey babies came from a feed store. The sad reality is that many chicks like them will eventually be raised for meat. But not these two. These babies will grow up with a mom who loves them, a safe home, and a lifetime of care here at Clear Creek Adventure Ranch. Years from now, they’ll pass away from old age, surrounded by the people and animals who care about them. Watching Marge instantly become a mother has been one of the coolest things we’ve ever seen.
