One time on a plane I was in a middle seat and having a Crohn’s attack. I timidly started to ask the man in the aisle if I could swap seats and he cut me off with a firm ‘no.’ I just stammered ‘okay, fair enough.’ My first adult experience of ‘no’ being a complete sentence. Totally his prerogative. I did however then have to climb over him about 300 times in a two hour flight to use the loo though so he probably should’ve at least let me finish my sentence.
