MeidasTouch says it's a record for a Trump rally. Some protesters were led away by police at the Freeman Coliseum. One man was assaulted by a MAGA supporter as he was being led from the event. Another flipped off the crowd with both hands as he was restrained. Trump stepped away from the microphone after one interruption.

MeidasTouch says it's a record for a Trump rally. Some protesters were led away by police at the Freeman Coliseum. One man was assaulted by a MAGA supporter as he was being led from the event. Another flipped off the crowd with both hands as he was restrained. Trump stepped away from the microphone after one interruption. "He's going back home to mom," he said. "But what he doesn't know is his mom voted for Trump." Gov. Greg Abbott, a longtime Trump ally, skipped the rally. He went to a hospital dedication about 330 miles away instead. Abbott is in a competitive reelection race against Democrat Gina Hinojosa. It was Trump's third trip to Texas in less than a month. Republicans have spent more than $300 million on races in the state. Trump won Texas by almost 14 points in 2024. But his low approval ratings, the war with Iran and soaring gas prices have put Paxton's race against Democrat James Talarico in play. Texas hasn't elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1988. Trump did not mention a recently leaked recording of Paxton complaining about the Iran war and rising fuel prices. Instead, he repeated his line that high fuel costs are "a small price to pay" for the war. He also promised the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Roger Clemens, the former pitcher kept out of the Hall of Fame over alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs. Election Day is less than a month away.
