@abandoned_and_forgotten_: Abandoned Pachinko Arcade - Fukishima, Japan On March 11, 2011, a tragic event occurred in Japan. A magnitude - 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami struck, causing catastrophic meltdowns at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The release of radioactive materials forced the immediate evacuation of the surrounding areas, leaving everything abandoned including this Pachinko arcade. This town once had a population of roughly 21,000, it now has only about 2500 as many people relocated after the disaster and never returned despite much of the area now being redeveloped. This Pachinko arcade was left overgrown with its sign rusting, sadly never to be used again. After its abrupt closure the inside remains dusty, the calendar a tragic reminder of the day lives changed forever. Machines were left waiting to be played, the steel balls scattered across the floor and drinks were left in the fridge!
