@everythinginplace: #stitch with @Allison 🗂️ Home Organizing ohhh this is going to be fun!!!! I’ve already drafted a script and cannot wait to do this! If you’re also annoyed with parents who don’t understand the school drop off lane rules lmk in the comments what I should be sure to include!!
The lack of consideration for disability and disabled students is astounding. I’m disappointed but not surprised considering the majority of yall voted for this administration.🙃

I encouraged my daughter (10th grade) to take an online class so she got out of school early. That is how much I hate the car pool line. And the best part of my youngest driving is no longer having to deal with car pool!

If you havent yet, be sure to advocate for a designated alternative drop off location for disabled kids. Most schools already have this and parents just need to be made aware. Its also something you can put in their IEP!

As a mom of 5, we just yelled “GO GO GO TUCK AND ROLL” cause if you aren’t getting out of the car like you’re storming the beaches of Normandy then you’re doing it wrong.

so what do small kids do who are still in a 5 point harness? they aren't allowed to use the drop-off lane?

Our year 11 kids volunteer every morning to help the little kids out of the car. It’s so cute and helps break down bullying due to older children knowing younger kids and teaching or standing up for them.

This is really great because it can be used to set expectations for everyone involved! Some people truly do not think about the way their actions impact others.

If my kids aren’t ready, we drive back to the end of the line. They learned quickly to be ready

Our school has a main line that goes super smoothe. People are there to open the door and the kids get out. Then there’s a separate line for preK kids and others who need help getting out where the parent can park for a minute or two and help their kid. It’s so efficient

ALSO. People stoping in the middle of the line, right in front of the door, instead of pulling ALL THE WAY TO THE END SO MORE PEOPLE CAN FIT

When you said they asked you to come in, I immediately thought ‘Ooh, she’s in trouble!’ I was so pleasantly surprised!

This is the bean soup theory repeating itself!! If you have special circumstances or if your child is young then you park your car in the employee’s parking lot or on the street and walk/carry your child to the schools front door! Thank God my youngest has completed the 5th grade and we are moving on to middle school! I don’t deal with the drop off lane anymore

So everyone knows, you can absolutely put in a kids IEP that they get a special drop off location so you dont have to rush in the drop off lane. Many schools already have an alternative drop off entrance for disabled kids

so where am I supposed to drop my kindergarten kid off? bc according to yall I should just throw them out the window and yell "tuck and roll". my child is in a carseat and cannot work the buckles them selves.
There is not a park and walk them in option at my school. Am I supposed to drop them off at the end of the street and pray to whatever God yall believe in that they make it?

I think it’s crazy that car seat safety is not the top priority with young kids. I understand older kids jumping out but young kids shouldn’t be out of their car seat until the vehicle is stopped even if they can unbuckle, that takes a moment. I get you can walk your kid in, but that means all younger kids need to be walked in or not be properly buckled.what is the quick solution that also keeps kids safe?

My second child is disabled, I have to have the child lock on at all times. I get out and let my 9 year old everyday because of it, i know it’s annoying, it’s annoying to me also, and before everyone says “we’re not talking about ppl with disabled kids” you literally are. You don’t know who does and doesn’t, and your annoyance is heard all of the time. A TON of daily annoyances boil down to some people aren’t as lucky as you.

Please remember what you just said. When YOU won’t be so annoyed. Drop off lane is a first step in teaching independence and some kids needs a little more time. Think of THEM in your promotion video. School is about the kids too. Not just the parents.

This but adults being picked up at the airport 1. Why are you parking if your people arent here drive on 2. If the driver needs to get out and help you then the drop of lane is not for you go park take your time 3. It should be a competition how fast you can get out of that line
