@taksportsmed: ⭐️HIP SPICA WRAP⭐️ Who: athletes/patients who have started RTP, this is in conjunction with rehab What: wrap to help hip extension after a hamstring injury When: for activity Where: for athletes that still need hip external rotation, pull lateral to medial. If groin is affected as well, pull medial to lateral. When: during activity, ditch the wrap at rest/relative rest or rehab Why: adds compression and acts like a "spring" for helping activate hip extension so the injured muscle group does not have to work as hard to illicit the movement. It also decreases flexion of the hip, therefore helping prevent you from overstretching the already injured tissue. How: this video shows how you start mid thigh, wrapping the ace wrap from lateral to medial. After secured around the thigh, you will make an x pattern over the glute or slightly higher. Tension of the pull is from the bottom of the glute to the opposite hip, as you can see me place my hand is down before I pull and apply more tension to the wrap. Less tension is applied as it goes around the front of the abdomen, and then tension again at the top of posterior hip to the groin. Finish off by securing it. I use a few pieces of white tape initially, and then cover with a cohesive bandage. You can go once around the waist for more security. MAJOR TIP: tell your athlete to go to the bathroom before hand‼️ #behindthetapejob #sportsmedicine #athletictraining #hamstring
