once while working at a popular chain restaurant, I was threatened by a customer at work who was clearly tweaking. he ended up not pulling out his weapon, but i was certain from the way he was moving and grabbing at something that he had a pew. the sherif came in an HOUR after he left and ordered his food, then when I told him what happened and said "sorry my hands are shaking, I just had a near death experience" he said "yeah welcome to the club." Im sorry sir, how much money do you get paid to put your life on the line? I get no weapons, no bullet proof vest, just an apron and $13.50/hr, do not act like this makes us peers

sigh a lot of police atp just wanna kill ppl because they think they just can like it fr feels that way. I genuinely think police need more time to understand how to do their job before going out to stop crimes which includes understanding how serious it is that they are at risk to die and if they fr want that job they have to accept that will happen, they also should fr have a serious punishment for pulling out guns for crimes that isn't the person putting others in danger. The only time I fr think a gun would be allowed is if that person is using it towards others where the police can't disarm them first or after the police tried to resolve the issue without violence. I also think a lot of these shootings also can fall into racism and homophobia. As it seems they try to make an excuse why they are allowed to shoot poc or lgbt+ that didn't do anything at all or just shoot people who poked at their ego that is apparently more important then a person's life.

Police officers also need to deal with actual crime and not useless shit. For some context im homeless I’ve only been homeless for a fee days yet every single day since I’ve started living in my car I’ve had to deal with the police. I mean just yesterday i had to deal with them twice. The only “lucky” part for me is im not outwardly a minority so they don’t do much but be annoying.

I also feel like they don’t put that much attention into gun control, the amount of times I’ve seen videos of cops shooting at a perpetrator point blank chest.. what happened to shooting them in the arm or leg? Isn’t the whole point of de-escalation to prevent larger issues including the safety of the perpetrator. Why are we going for vital organs? i’m not sure if it’s because I’m Canadian and I haven’t seen police gun violence ever in my life. However, if you wanted to legalize guns, you should understand that emphasis on gun training, it should be a priority. I once heard that ice agents only go through six months of training and that is so concerning because look at how many gun deaths come at the hands of ice agents? Let alone normal police officers. Shouldn’t this be a sign that clearly they need to change the system from within. Please tell me I’m not being unrealistic because I am Canadian after all, so I wouldn’t understand fully but.. yk. Just a thought.

I know you have some takes I personally don’t agree with (no disrespect I’m sorry if I ever showed disrespect, if I did it was highly emotional based and I’m sorry about that.) however this is just insane how are cops this horrific- I never trusted them to begin with but this just makes me continue to feel unsafe. I can’t imagine how so many others feel. Not even a mother who was in a desperate situation is spared from this, honestly we are just ants with a foot above us ready to stomp on us.

I don't wanna sound rude and I'm actually curious, but who is gonna protect civilians in danger if cops just disappeared. I'm aware most cops are indeed bad people, but some cops do save lives when somebody is in danger. I'm not an expert, and ik most cops wouldn't like me, but when ur in danger isn't the cops the best option so your life could be saved?
