You may find that some tongue ties may look the same as other babies. Some may be more obvious to the untrained eye and some are a lot more hidden - therefore, only the trained professionals can find them! BUT, I can assure you that although some times may look “mild” or “slight” or “small” like in the first part of the reel - it doesn’t mean it’s significantly impacting the baby! This is why those terms mentioned DONT exist! There is no such thing as “mild”, “slight” or “small” tie. Either your baby has a tie or doesn’t have a tie. The only way you will be able to get a true answer and assess the restriction of the tie is by LIFTING the tongue up! Lifting the tongue up helps us determine: 👉🏻 the amount of restriction/tension 👉🏻 how long/short the frenulum/tie is 👉🏻 where is the frenulum/tie attached So if you hear those terms that don’t exist told to you, or if your HCP doesn’t lift your baby’s tongue up (like you see me do in the second part of the reel). Then find yourself another HCP trained in TOTs!
