my parents threatened to get rid of the family cat because it was the most attached to me. i was the only one that fed/cleaned up after it, so it slowly became *my* cat. by that time he was already extremely old, and eventually they settled on "well he's not allowed in your room for a month" and then a week later he went outside one day and never came back. i will never forgive them for taking away the last days i had with him, sometimes i still have dreams that he'll come back inside any day now despite this happening nearly ten years ago

My dad took my cat somewhere I don’t know when I was asleep just because my mom was upset that the cat didn’t like her and that I was the cats favorite (she has her own cat that’s only hers, not even a family cat) this was my sweet baby, she loved cuddles and I still cry looking at her photos

My parents took me out to dinner once and halfway through my food they said “if you’re willing to give up your dog, we’ll buy you any pet you want” and I paused… Chico had behaviour issues but if we sent him back to said shelter we would’ve been his fourth family to give up on him. He would’ve been put down. I looked at them and walked out of the restaurant. I was angry and sad they dared ask me that. Chico lived to 11 and died peacefully last june.

My parents regularly got rid of my animals for things like poor grades. (Nevermind they knew I had untreated adhd and struggled with certain things, but never helped) When that stopped working my dad threatened to take me out back and make me watch him put a bullet in my horses head. Animals should NEVER be used as a punishment.

My dad punished my dog by giving him away and he tried to escape and got run over by a car when I was 7. When I got older, I got rid of my dad. I still cherish my beautiful boy, I can’t tolerate any human that is cruel to any being.
