Let’s get nerdy for a second because I’m tired of people oversimplifying this sh*t. When I say ADHD is a state regulation disorder, what I mean is that stimulation is vital to the state regulation process. Your brain’s ability to access executive functioning and a bunch of other cognitive systems that rely on proper state regulation depends on having the right level of stimulation to work with. It’s neuroscience! And when I talk about novelty, I’m not just talking about brand new experiences you’ve never had before. Novelty can be creating different levels of stimulation with familiar experiences. It’s about variation, unpredictability, and engagement, not exclusively chasing things you’ve never done. Now, if you feel called out, this pattern doesn’t automatically mean you’re destined to fail at relationships or that you’re shallow. This layer shows an ADHD alternative the the experience where this pattern may just mean your brain has specific needs to function optimally, and understanding those needs is the first step to working WITH your brain instead of against it. But also (and I cannot stress this enough) this is education, not a diagnosis of YOUR relationship. Everyone’s dynamics are individualized, layered, and f*cking complicated. I don’t know yours, so this video can’t speak directly to your situation. What it CAN do is provide a perspective and a lens. If this resonates, maybe it helps you understand what’s happening. If it doesn’t resonate, you still walked away with education that might help you better understand your own patterns. As always, if you’re experiencing distress in your relationship or your s//ggsual dynamics, work with a qualified professional who can help you navigate YOUR specific layers and context. Instagram education can only do so much. Now go figure out what stimulation YOUR brain actually needs. #adhd #relationships #limerence #stimulation
