@howtoadultschool: Making personal finance Simple makes it actionable. If you need to focus on just two things right now to get ahead financially, let it be this. 1) Live below your means. Spend less than you make so you can start making savings. 2) Start contributing those savings to your TFSA, and learn the basics of investing so you can get that money growing and earning for you tax free. Even just doing these two things will get you so far ahead and will start building a real solid financial foundation for your life. Got questions? Drop them in the comments and check out The Money Club (link in bio) where I’m teaching a deep dive into TFSAs for this month’s webinar lesson. #personalfinancecanada #financialliteracy #tfsa #PersonalFinance #financialeducation

I’m only 23, should I have my TFSA be “high risk” investing or the “medium to low risk” investing? I’m not sure when I will be taking the money out of my TFSA but I assume not for many years

Absolutely. Honestly wish I understood this sooner. Also, a slight reframe instead of just “living below your means”, I like to think of it as saving 10-15% of my income a non negotiable, and then only what’s left over after savings is what’s mine to spend. Helps for me to think of it that way.

This had happened to me. I didn’t know that it wasn’t invested properly. Call your bank or whoever it is with and ask that it be invested properly. Do it now!!!!

Monthly reminders like this are genuinely needed. Most people set it up once and forget to actually maximize it each year. Great call-out.

My TFSA is medium risk and my teenage has one that’s high risk. Is that what you mean by investing? Both have earned money just sitting there
