@adamecrossbyw: With this current conversation around black men specifically wearing things that challenges society’s idea of masculinity. Rhinestones become more and more prevalent and seeing other creators wear longer hair, paint their nails, or having piercings other than just their ear lobe. It makes me think how y’all could not handle a Dennis Rodman today. This man was wearing anything, dying his hair and painting his nails. And don’t even get me started on him marrying himself to promote his book 😭 Fashion wise, man was an icon for sure 🤌🏾 #fashion
dyeing my hair was such a dope form of self expression

Dennis Rodman was genuinely authentic. Also they did call Dennis gay…like a a lot. They literally made think pieces back then about it 💀

I hear you, but you're overlooking the caveat. Rodman was generally accepted because functionally he met certain conventional criteria for masculinity. Even then he was still largely seen as "weird". Personally, I feel like more black men should adopt the attitude of "who's going to physically stop me from being myself?" Whether it was Rodman, Prince, or even The Based God, you could hate their embrace of femininity but realistically no was going to make them do anything they didn't want to stop doing. So much of stereotypes about black male aggression could ne healthily channeled into authenticity and freedom of expression.

It’s the horribly designed fast fashion graphic tees where the gems are placed horribly with no intention that I find the biggest issue. I would love to see men embrace more pizazz in their fashion. I just wish the designs were more intentional and nicer to look at.

“Men can’t express themselves” and who set that system up? I’m sorry but most bejeweled men are homophobic or peddle some form of toxic masculinity themselves… there simply needs to be a deeper conversation of men and what they wear, how they interact with the very ppl that gave them the template for their new style… my gay queer and trans elders.
