You’re confusing reciprocity with manipulation. There’s nothing manipulative about expecting mutual respect and effort in a relationship. If I’m kind and caring, it’s normal to hope my partner is too. Manipulation is using kindness to make someone feel they owe you something—not simply wanting a balanced relationship.

Actually thats incorrect. Nice guy syndrome essentially breaks down to a people pleaser not to get something but for the purpose of not creating conflict. As a genuine nice guy who is older , take my word for it fellas, be an asshole. Being a good man in general gets you absolutely nowhere.
