The only exposure to politics in high school we had in the 90s was civics class and we registered to vote. It wasn’t anyone’s business what side you supported.

I had 2 old school friends go after my parenting skills and values for supporting Trump. Then they pulled my boys into the discussion and implied that my boys were bad people because they listen to and respect my husband (their father) and I. That was it. Friendship done. Don’t involve my children to make a political point. One of them was shocked that I didn’t tolerate that.

My daughter lost a really close friend over political differences when she was a freshman in high school. She was heartbroken and didnt care that they disagreed when it came to those things but her friend then started claiming everything my daughter did was racist and shaming her. It was so sad to see my daughter cry over the loss of her friend.
