@ladyspinedoc: Not every migraine starts in the brain. A cervicogenic headache is a headache that actually originates from the neck. When the joints, discs, muscles, or nerves in the upper cervical spine become irritated, pain signals can travel into the head through shared nerve pathways. Patients often describe a “rams horn pattern” of pain starting in the neck or base of the skull and traveling up one side of the head, sometimes reaching behind the eye. Unlike a typical migraine, the pain is often triggered by certain neck movements or prolonged positions. The challenge? Cervicogenic headaches can mimic migraines, leading many patients to treat the symptom while the true source remains undiagnosed.
