The funniest part of flat 4’s is the only reason they sound like that are the unequal length headers. Equal length headers sound like every other 4 cylinder

this is inaccurate. on the boxer 4 there wasn't a pop towards the end and a piston flying off the crank

actually even though technically a flat engine. boxer and flat are different. it's the way the pistons move in sequence. I don't think it makes a difference much in performance but how the stroke is makes the difference between being a flat or boxer. that's why Porsche calls it a flat 6 not boxer 6. (even though they have a model called the boxster. lol}
