Brian. did you know that those three stewed together react in such a way that they give you complete protein chains and enough vitamins to live on that for a whole winter 👌 (not that I expect you to eat only this all winter but it was a survival stew way back when)

Another indigenous cultivation trick I use is growing vines up trees. Best cucumbers I’ve grown in my garden are the ones I planted under our tree and let them grow up. Produced all summer long

Another helpful part of this is that the squash shade out the ground to help prevent small-seeded weeds from establishing.

We grow a 3 sisters patch every year and always does well. We grow them all separately as well in bigger patches but 3 sisters always turns out better.

From Bernalillo New Mexico, enjoyed the three sister lesson for folks who don’t live on the Rio Grande. We would love to sit in the pouring rain with you!

I love SO much that you started yelling as it started raining 🤣... then the regulating and realizing that it was enjoyable and your voice calming lmao....
It has me laughing pretty good this morning because I super feel it. The rain rush on the farm, followed by "well I'm wet and this actually feels pretty good". I don't know HOW many times this has been me 100%.

You can replace the beans with snap peas, 🫛 a great nitrogen feeder too, I think the Nitrogen source is the Big red beans in Spanish there called Piligüe but unlike regular red beans they're 2or 3 times there called Size
