@theangrynature: The pistol shrimp can create a flash of light that's almost as hot as the surface of the sun with its claw. See one of its claws is enlarged and shaped like a gun. When it snaps shut fast enough, it fires a jet of water so powerful it creates a cavitation bubble. That bubble collapses in less than a millisecond, and for that fraction of a second, the temperature inside reaches around 8,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The surface of the sun is about 10,000. The snap also produces a shockwave loud enough to stun or kill small fish and shrimp. The pistol shrimp uses this to hunt. It is the size of your finger and it is briefly making a tiny star to kill its food. #educational #pistolshrimp #wildlife #animals #AnimalFacts
