Absolutely not. Not a cent. My kids, my responsibility.

You’re forgetting that those prices are primarily at FOR profit daycare centers. If we had non-profit government run daycares, you could raise daycare teacher pay and benefits, and lower the costs to the tax payers.

I already pay for too many government programs I don’t use

But if the government was in charge of daycare it would cost 700 billion

rs_2266 :
But once the government got involved, the cost would become $14,000 per month. We’ve seen this happen with healthcare, college, etc. Everything the government touches skyrockets in price.

Prices would triple if it was government funded. Just like college

And for all the people saying that it would never be possible, we had universal childcare during WWII.

As someone who has spent time working in facilities that are fully funded or even just partially funded by the government, I’d personally rather keep the financial burden of childcare than have the government involved. Iykyk. However, I do agree our money gets wasted on things that in no way benefit us.

Except when payments are made by the govt. the prices will triple by the daycare corporation that will ultimately own all daycares in five years.

This also doesn’t consider the fact that some of that $1400/month would decrease by cutting out profit and would be essentially insured by the government- so there would be savings there as well

Why should I pay more in taxes so other people don’t have to pay for childcare?

Except if the government ran it it wouldn’t be $1400/month it would be 3-4 times that

We have way too many social programs now. Need to cut spending and taxes by 50% until our deficit is from 40 trillion to zero

It also wouldn’t cost that much for government run childcare. Look at what we pay teachers.

na it can be cheaper for universal daycare..1.every county donates a building. 2. we hire teenagers and freshly out of highschool teenagers that do not want to go to university/ still figuring out thier life ( we start them off with minuim wage and tax incentives and other perks like free breakfast-lunch-dinner) 😭 3. if you dont want to pay more in taxes ( donate things like diapers lunches ( Lunchables boxes of pizza snacks etc..or you can help out on your day off ) ..so to the creator you are so off

I think it should be a payroll tax split evenly between employers and employees with no income cap. This would mean everyone pays into the system just like social security tax since everyone would benefit from the tax. An extra .5% or 1% would be nothing and would generate enough revenue to cover these expenses.
