I totally understand what you're saying! If I wasn't such a lazy Azz person I would totally be a farmer! BUT what you said about Iowa isn't exactly accurate. The nitrates are bad but that's the price we Iowans are willing to pay to feed our country. But that isn't my point. And now my ADHD brain has lost the point LOL Keep posting! I love living vicariously though you! Thanks for sharing. What people don't understand is that eventually your homestead will have infrastructure and what you are doing will be less urgent.

someone once told me fresh eggs were no good because they were not tested before being eaten. I still can't get pass people believing that food has to be treated before consumed.

We do this for nutrition, usually a cost savings and don’t even get me started on the taste. I have the time to do this so why not. It also provides physical activity. There are those people out there that will never understand that the food at the grocery store is not as nutritious as home grown.

Most people have no concept of what it costs to start up a farm and the cost of feed, shelters etc. I grew up on a farm, had 2 other farms with my ex. Hands down the best way to go.

I agree with you.. be self sustainable! Just because you want to live like that awesome! but those that do choose to live like this truly enjoy the value it brings to your life when you grow and bring up your own food. everyone lives and wants different things, not everyone wants the crap stores sell them. let people live there life 😅 especially since it doesnt affect you at all.

of you have the time and willing to take care of the animals then so be it. My lazy ass has not time to take care of animals or kids. The way I have bother and sister. My Brother gave me 1 nephew and niece. which in turn got 6 grand niece and nephew. So I can be the fun uncle and not have to deal with the hard stuff.
