I fix something similar, but I thicken mine with a little flour or cornstarch, season with pepper, onion powder & garlic powder. Serve over white rice.

I make this all the time in winter. I call it chicken stew. Chicken, milk, a stick of butter, salt, & lots of b.pepper. Serve it with saltine crackers crushed up in it.

them old time recipes are made to be filling even though they seem a bit strange in the days we are in now. but I think back in the 1800 food was a bit scarce so the simplest ingredients were available and filling .

in indonesia we have something similiar to those food, we called it opor ayam, but we don't use the milk broth instead we use coconut milk
