For an environment like ours, we've been groomed by design to be products and it takes education and intentionality to recognise the patterns here. More than ever, we have gatekeepers who curate everything under the guise of "Status". There's a list for everything and everyone is busy chasing each item just to be included... In guess whose name? The almighty "Status". Also, taste is not just taste... It serves a functional role, it's an association broker. Brands and labels are a means to an end, all in the name of taste curation.
