"Starvation mode" as it's incorrectly used, is when you reduce your daily caloric intake so drastically that your body begins storing fat to survive.     This is false.    Most often, people simply are not in the caloric deficit they think they're in and they gain body fat as a result.     Starvation mode is what bloggers and idiots who watch health documentaries confuse with “metabolic adaptation.”    Let’s make one thing clear: you will NEVER eat too few calories, starve, AND also gain weight 🥴    When you diet for too long without a diet break or on too little calories for an extended period of time...    Your body adapts to the little energy you’re giving it...to keep you alive 🤪    It doesn't mean you're starving...and if you were, you definitely wouldn't start gaining fat out of thin air!    With clients who have been on overly-restrictive diets, I calculate what their maintenance calories SHOULD be.    Then, I take the calories that they say they’ve been eating (those are usually very far from reality) and I add a few hundred.    We test it out for a few weeks, or until they can accurately track and report their intake, and we continue adding slowly until they're able to eat normally again.    I still have them training hard and tracking their nutrition and I make it very clear that they can expect an initial weight gain.    THAT’S NORMAL!    Yes, my fat loss clients have to gain a bit of weight in order to start losing it…if they’ve been chronically restricting calories.    Once they’re able to eat normally again and they’re consistent with their tracking, we start the fat loss process over again...    Correctly, this time!    We remove a few hundred calories at a time and wait before changing anything else.    Patience is key!    Three guys in my 1:1 program just finished this type of protocol and absolutely killed it!    Wanna be next?
