This is nonsense. Any exercise is better than none so weights are better than the sofa. In the end, it’s about calorific deficit. Most people aren’t at the level of fitness needed to do hours of cardio, but there’s no question that it’s the best way to burn calories. Try running or biking for hours plus eating normally. The weight will drop off
