why do people think that rate limiting is something you have to have on a website? the majority of websites doesn't get enough traffic for it the matter anyway. I have multiple sites with no rate limiter and I'm fine. it's not a hard task to do anyway. Also, an API can absolutely be public.

Rate limiting is making sure you dont overuse the requests on your api putting your api in an .env file is separete so i dont see the correlation like yes you need rate liming but commiting your api is another diffrent mistake 🥀
