I would've expected the one dude who was N°1 in the game of that anime to be an absolute Metamancer. Typa guy that on day 1 spent the whole day figuring any way to pull off percentage damage and cheese tricks. The kind of human being that keeps a loadout for each possible enemy loadout as well as multiple copies of a single weapon for a single convenient switch trick. Very specific but sounded fitting to me.

You know what I love about this anime? That Maple's gf / bestie Risa is shown having a full shelf of video game thropies for being the best player and I srsly needed that to be acknowledged that girls can be so badass. Which really works well with Maple being portrayed as OP. Together they took down a boss that devs designed to be unable to be defeated. I love them.

I may be wrong but isnt he just the overconfident gamer stereotype? I assume he would act the same if a guy beat him the way maple did? ive played with people who act that way (I didn't even know i was trans yet) and they were still cocky and overconfident?

if maple had done the same thing 2 months later she would not have gotten any of the crazy attack powers because all of them were prizes for being the 1st to beat those bosses. IMO maple was not better at the game, she is hella lucky and a good person

in Payne's defense, heh, Maple has the ability of a mountain. it's not really his fault that he expected her to be an easy win. if I saw a zero agility I too would assume I could stand slightly outside her striking range and chip away for the next two days.

yeah I feel like you're misclocking this one. he's confident in his ability you could even say cocky. he puts his all into that game he didn't expect the person who was playing some weird insane play style to actually be good and anyone who plays around some kind of meta in a game this generally happens to them hell I dealt with that same kind of attitude in larp because I used a non-meta style to fight and I'm a dude also after season 1 they all become friends with the other top guilds even inviting them to dinner and stuff, on top of that as much as you want it to be misogyny he probably just sees her as a child because she is one I don't know if you played games as a child but it's sooo much worse than in this anime .

he's a pro gamer, shit talker. anybody who's played WoW has dealt with this. I being male have dealt with this as i play female characters sometimes and man does it get sideways with some of the things people say just because its a female based character.
