Prayer is the pillar of the religion and one of the five pillars of Islam, and it is an obligation on every Muslim man and woman. As for how to perform prayer in a healthy way, it should be noted that prayer in itself is a healthy exercise program for the bones, joints, and muscles, but “healthy prayer” requires performing it with humility and tranquility, focusing on stability and proper performance of the pillars such as prostration and bowing. Steps of correct prayer: Intention (niyyah): It is in the heart and does not need to be spoken. Opening takbir (Takbirat al-ihram): Raise your hands in line with your ears and say “Allahu Akbar.” Standing: Recite Al-Fatiha, then whatever you can of the Noble Qur’an. Bowing (ruku’): Be humble and repeat “Subhana Rabbiyal ‘Azim.” Rising from bowing: Stand straight and listen to the imam (if you are praying in congregation). Prostration (sujud): Prostrate twice in every rak’ah, resting on the seven body parts of prostration (the forehead, the palms, the knees, and the big toes), and repeat “Subhana Rabbiyal A’la.” Sitting between the two prostrations: Sit in a stable way before moving to the second prostration. Tashahhud: Recite the tashahhud in the final rak’ahs. Benefits of healthy prayer: Increases tranquility and trust in Allah: Prayer increases the feeling of calmness, peace, and self-confidence. Forbids immorality and wrongdoing: It prevents a person from committing sins and acts of disobedience. The best exercise program: Prayer is considered an excellent exercise program for the health of the joints, bones, and muscles. Other questions: What are the most important facts about prayer? Answer: Prayer is the pillar of Islam, and it is the greatest and most important obligation after the two testimonies of faith. Whoever abandons it has disbelieved – we seek refuge in Allah from that.
