As a therapist who has been working in the field for 20 years, I have learned bits and pieces of what you talk about in your posts here and there over the 20 years, but it’s extremely rare to hear it all in one place. And you’re right – – those few and far between places were at conferences or trainings that the general public would never be at. And I was not taught this information in my masters level courses that I had to take to get my license. I’ve learned it because I am interested in this topic and I pursue the information, and some of it is just my own personal experiences and conversations with survivors. I appreciate your content so much! And I love that I am able to send your posts to clients who are trying to figure things out, but don’t know how to put their experiences into words.

THIS!! Thank you!! This point is so important, and not just a little detail. Awareness is foundational for the general public. We still have a lot of work to do in the area of Awareness. It has been in journals and books for decades, and that is maddening because the widespread public Awareness is seriously lacking, especially in systems.

It’s not addressed in legislative language to force accountability with public healthcare service provision for brain health, work accommodations or insurance coverage plans too - the knowledge will always need to circulate - its public health / health promotion staples

gender based violence activist for a decade and now a therapist here to say that no "we" don't know. i just left my last abusive relationship like a year ago lol so even if the professionals know it isn't embodied. i think the only people who truly know are the perpetrators because anyone with empathy cannot imagine an abusive mind
