We require parts to be paid for before we order them. I’m sitting on roughly $200,000 in parts of people changing their minds after we order so yeah I now make everyone pay for parts before I order.

I’m a painting contractor. I don’t provide onsite estimates to new customers. In my experience they’re going to hire the low bidder no matter what. Onsite visits are a waste of time. If they decide to hire me I require a 10% non refundable deposit to schedule a start date. Then once I’m 50% complete I require another 40% payment. Once the projects 90% complete I require the other 50% to be paid. It’s mandatory to waste as little time as possible and get as much money as you can out the customer asap. The more you get the more leverage you have. If you don’t get deposit and progress payments and the job ends and they owe you 100% balance? They could screw you 😂

we quote over the phone and from pictures. then get a deposit and then we go out to meet the client so we know they are serious. works well for us.

Yep.I fix appliances.If I don’t get a parts deposit more times than not when the part comes in suddenly they changed their mind or magically the part that was in pieces fixed itself.I don’t care if you don’t want to do the repair just don’t take up a spot on my schedule that I could be making money.🙄

using air bnb they have cancelation fees or non refundable when booking it was upfront, so we understood from the start,thats the way it should be ,ull make sure u ask ur self that question " can I make this happen"

Those type of appointments should always come with customer commitment. Aka a deposit that pays everyone the minimum to pay for supplies and the time. Yup the labor should be covered even if they cancel PERIOD!

Preach! If you aren’t going to cancel you don’t mind the deposit. If you cancel, the fee is buying the ability not to pay full price, WHICH YOU SHOULD.
