@immarkhowland: Outfits are made or broken in the details that most guys overlook, usually because they don’t know what to look at. Menswear is a VAST space with a ton of nuance. And it’s overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to get your initial bearings. So start reading between the lines and take out your metaphorical magnifying glass when dissecting why you like an outfit, or don’t. Look at things like: -the general proportions of the outfit (hint: it’s more than just the rule of thirds) -how the clothes drape on the wearer’s body -the silhouette -the textures and how the interact with eachother -the pant break or lack of -the fit of each piece -skin tone in relation to the color palette -patina -etc. (there’s still way more, but you get the idea) But it’s usually in these details that make an outfit great. Yes, the individual pieces and general cohesion matter a lot. But this stuff does too.
