@auntychannn: took my homework a little too seriously, I hope this prompts very really reflection and change #postpartum #blackwomenshealth #blackwomen #MentalHealthAwareness #pmhnpstudent
After you submit it, please submit it to a health publication. This is the work that I want to read. Cultural competency in healthcare goes far beyond acknowledging the needs of your patient, it goes into fighting the systems that actively work against favorable patient outcomes and finding evidence based practices that actually make a change for the patient. I am 100% on board with this!

And that’s why as black nurses it’s IMPORTANT that we advocate. Idc if it’s makes you uncomfortable, you need to advocate for your patients if something doesn’t feel or look right!

Manifesting an A for you on that paper and I hope you go on to your PhD or you’d be able to develop a policy or compliance document that can be used at all medical facilities to address this issue!🖤✨

I’m rounding up my masters here in London, and I remember during one of our classes. A south Asian classmate said black women are genetically predisposed to die during childbirth. The way I was the only one to challenge that misinformation was beyond me

Content like this matters because it helps people feel less alone 😭 especially when it comes to postpartum experiences that don't always match the picture-perfect version shown online. I remember feeling overwhelmed, low on energy and struggling to feel comfortable in my own body after becoming a mom. Then I came across Eat Like a Woman Protocol (by loren green) through a women's community online. Best thing I stumbled across. Lost 31 lbs, less bloating, steadier energy and finally started feeling like myself again. Worth it. Not sure why more women aren't talking about this.

This was so beautiful to witness. Also now you have a new follower. As a black woman this video just opened my eyes to an even bigger issue I didn’t know exist on this level. My God I hope this take you far….. not just for the sake of your grade, but for the actual life span of black women as a whole

You know I’ve experienced the bias of hugh pain tolerance bc I’m not gonna cry and scream in front of yt- I was raised to hide my pain and that no one listens. Even you mother would say get up it doesn’t hurt when it did. For example I had a toothache my mother ignored it. I sat with this pain for weeks. Yes neglectful no doubt but she is actually asian indian so she doesn’t even fit the stereotypes. Our community was taught to downplay or pain feeding into imposed racist conditions that promoted this behavior by beating, raping and amputating our limbs and suffering by Arab, spanish,European enslaved globally.

When I cried at my appointment, they ended up putting on my chart that I was in a depressive mood, but during the appointment she never mentioned anything about that. Or any ways to help me. No meds offered or anything. Now that’s just on my chart like I’m always depressed

Self-advocacy is also really difficult on a timeline that tight, so when you’re already disadvantaged by the system, having that additional burden is even more of a challenge
