this idea is wrong, because women are not on the extreme as men are. yes we want them to be emotional with us that they're comfortable enough to share their feelings, but we never expect them to be perfectly fine all the time and have no emotions at all. women perceive men as humans, but not the other way around

I think the thing that some of these comments are missing is that these ideas aren't baked into humanity or psychological phenomena, they're social constructs that reproduce through culture and are delivered subconsciously. You can't really say "these aren't real" because they're descriptions of some of the patterns we reproduce in our culture. They're more useful in media analysis, throw a dart in the smutty romance aisle and you'll hit an example.

The whole point of the Madonna-Whore complex is that men who suffer from it consider whores to be corrupted and bad, unlike Madonnas. They want the Madonna to become a whore for them because they want whores but don't consider them worthy, but as soon as that happens, they begin to consider Madonnas corrupted
