And honestly? I think she’s right. I spent years as a homemaker and pastor’s wife. There are many things I genuinely loved about that life. I loved creating a home. I loved caring for my family. I loved making our space beautiful and welcoming. But I also learned something the hard way: Women need their own money. Women need their own skills. Women need access to bank accounts, investments, and financial knowledge. Not because divorce is inevitable. Because life is unpredictable. When people warn young women that something could happen, it often sounds theoretical. For many of us, it wasn’t theoretical at all. It happened. Now thousands of women who spent decades in traditional marriages are doing the brutal work of rebuilding from scratch in their 40s and 50s. They’re learning how to support themselves, recover their confidence, make financial decisions, find work, and create stability after divorce. It’s a privilege to build a life on your own terms. But it is also incredibly hard. Much of that suffering was preventable. That’s why I make the content I do.
