But you’re forgetting the movie was bought by Focus Features, Cinemas take half, then lawyers agents, producers, investors and earnings are mostly (if not all) going to focus features, it’s unlikely but even if the director got a deal to get royalties or a percentage of the film earnings this would be 5% tops which at most is 15 Million and for the movie industry this is not enough to finance a film career
