I've re-watched it so many times and I just don't understand how it happened. I can tell Madibo kicked from behind but it didn't look like it was on the calf area. I thought it looked like he got more towards the ankle.

Anyone thinking this was deliberate didn’t watch how minimal the tackle was. I played soccer as a teenager with boys. I slid into my boyfriend who played on the opposite team. I broke his leg in the same way. Not malicious. He did break up with me but he knew it wasn’t intentional!

It was a foul, but it really didn’t look like a serious, aggressive foul. To me it just looked like an ordinary foul where he got his foot swept out from under him. I would never have thought it would result in two broken bones.

I don’t believe it was deliberate you could see the Qatar player was shaken up. High performance athletes are always at risk for injuries. Let’s just pray for a successful surgery and recovery 🙏🇨🇦

I watched it live and I cried and was so upset instantly, such a horrible injury and very sad. I hope he’ll be ok no one should ever have this bad of an injury in soccer
