I think Jason’s Sonic had the best characterization, but I feel like Roger nails the spunky attitude part of Sonic, it reminds me of Jaleel White’s work on the SatAM cartoons

I could say the same for the Shadow VAs too. People seem to really dislike Kirk Thornton’s Shadow, when I personally really like his voice for Shadow. Sure, Jason Griffith is what us 2000’s kids grew up with. But I personally love Kirk’s portrayal, honestly it’s too overhated. It’s a generational thing, the VAs of each era fit for each time period, but none of the VA’s are “bad.” People all have different opinions, and I’ll respect them as long as they respect mine in return. *Kirk Thornton has improved more as Shadow as we can really hear it in Sonic x Shadow Generations*

honestly, its mostly the fault of the voice directors, I watched a video of him doing a much better sonic voice than what he does, hes just instructed to do a different voice

hes a good voice actor but hes not a good sonic voice actor. has nothing to do with nostalgia, his voice and cadence simply dont fit sonic, roger has way too much of a matured grown man tone where as sonic needs a young voice with attitude. i think it works for the characterization he gets in Sonic Boom but thats about it

As someone who didn’t really get invested into sonic until 2023, I personally just don’t really like Rodger’s portrayal of sonic. But to be fair the voice direction and stories were also awful for his games so I don’t blame him more so just the circumstances at the time. His version of sonic just feels very limited to me. He does a good job as sonic in the show, but he makes sonic sound to mascoty in my mind when it comes to the games. Like unfortunately whenever I hear his sonic it sounds like he is about to tell a joke after every sentence. But when it comes to Jason’s portrayal of sonic it feels more authentic to me. I love how he voices sonic in both unleashed and black knight. It really feels like he embodies those characters in those games and I can hear the emotion in his lines
