@kristenvannest: The Norwegian national football team played a World Cup match in Boston in 76 degree weather and came out wearing full ice packs on their bodies like they had just survived a natural disaster. 76 degrees. That is a mild Tuesday in September. That is “finally nice enough to eat outside” weather. That is the temperature at which Americans open their windows and say it’s beautiful out. In Norway this is apparently a heat emergency requiring medical intervention. The internet responded with “well they’re from Norway” as if that explains strapping ice to your torso in what is essentially sweater weather for the rest of the Northern Hemisphere. Now I need someone to explain what would happen if these men had to play in Miami. Or Houston. Or Phoenix in July where it is 114 degrees and the pavement is a viable cooking surface and Americans are just out there doing outdoor activities like it’s fine. The 2026 World Cup is being hosted across the US, Canada and Mexico. Some of these European teams are about to play in conditions that would make a Norwegian require hospitalization. The ice packs in Boston are the warning shot. Nobody is ready for the Dallas leg of this tournament. 76 degrees. Ice packs. Norway. This is the World Cup content I didn’t know I needed.
