Ezekiel 18:20 – "The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son."
Deuteronomy 24:16 – "Children shall not be put to death for their fathers; each one shall be put to death for his own sin."
When Jesus welcomed children, He said, "for of such is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:14).
At the same time, children can suffer the earthly consequences of their parents' choices (poverty, abuse, bad examples, etc.), but that is different from being eternally condemned because of their parents.
The Bible also shows God's special concern for children. For example, in Jonah 4:11, God mentions the many people in Nineveh who could not "discern between their right hand and their left hand," indicating His compassion toward those who lack understanding.
Different Christian traditions have different views about the fate of children who die before they are able to understand and respond to God. However, most agree that God is perfectly just, merciful, and loving, and that He will not treat children unfairly.
So the biblical principle is clear: children are not lost merely because their parents are lost. Each person is accountable before God, and God judges righteously. (Ezekiel 18:20)
