You don’t have to spend your money anywhere you don’t want to. But calling an entire ethnic group’s businesses “predatory” because of one criminal case is the same kind of collective guilt logic people reject in every other context. If Stop Asian Hate was wrong to judge all Asians by the actions of a few attackers, then boycotting uninvolved Asian business owners because they share an ethnicity with Rick Chow is wrong for the same reason. Criticize the individual, demand accountability, but don’t replace one stereotype with another.
