This illustrates that consciousness is limited to its vantage points. A 2 dimensional being would not have access to 3 dimensions. A 3 Dimensional being would not access the information contained within a 4 dimensional configuration. This theoretically could continue infinitely.

They are so small they are practically living in a 2D world although it’s not a physical wall for them like it would be if they were two dimensional yet they perceive it as if it is a wall perceiving things in the 2D pretty neat and a good experiment to explain the difference and help understand they difference in dimensions

I believe that the ant is reacting to the smell of the ink. The toxins to us may be imperceptible because they are expressed differently at a micro level from the perspective of the ant. To us it appears it is reacting to random geometric patterns but from its vantage points the smell may have an entirely different impact.
