@saysdotcom: He was just 23 years old. 🥺 Armed with little more than parangs, spears, and courage, Albert Kwok led around 300 civilians known as the Kinabalu Guerillas in one of the largest resistance uprisings during the Japanese Occupation of North Borneo. It was the Malaysian Chinese community that fought most resolutely against Japanese aggression during World War II. Shaped by the bitter experience of colonialism and imperialism in China, they harboured a strong aversion to colonial rule. However, their critical role in the fight to liberate Malaya from colonialism continues to be understated or deliberately distorted in official historical narratives.😏
