wtf? I need to read the papers on that because, as an autistic, I'm acquiring a lot of good social tools from AI to ask and say things that I previously lacked the words to express... I feel it has made me more fluent... for me, I learn from how tolerant and curious the AI is and apply it to social conversations, this has made me less scared of contributing to conversations without overthinking as much as in the past

I get so annoyed. (Claude user) I have to keep doing diagnostic on language. words like "honest, insightful, sharp, precise." get tossed around and feel good. as humans we share these as validation sometimes and you can tell if a point lands or if it doesnt. the LLM is just mimicking that, but the charge doesnt translate. so honest is just "speaking your truth" sharp is "potentially a narrow perspective, perhaps assuming too much predetermined data. deep is just "raw honesty showing more about yourself and probably not casting as wide of a net as you think." I enjoy conversing with ai. it helps to unscatter my ideas. I can rant and let it decode the rant to see if it translates. I use it like a journal, I remember things better as conversations, If I want to understand something i throw my understanding at it. Anyway. thanks for coming to my rant :)

idk I always tell my bots they are awesome and helpful and point out when they do a good job, idk if it's just the harness but they seem to run better or respond better. hell I got one chat I refuse to close out cuz that session ALWAYS catches something the others missed

Can we please stop referring to LLMs and chat bots as AI? There's more to AI than that. Can we please stop saying that LLMs think? They're statistical models. I understand your point that people develop unrealistic expectations, extrapolating from chat bots experiences to purely human ones. But let's not further this view that humanizes a bunch of numbers.

The silence is in the gap between those two truths. The conversation keeps collapsing into one or the other ~ either “it’s about individual readiness” or “it’s about restricting the tech.” But what if it’s both, and neither is sufficient without the other? That’s what I think we’re missing.
