Kids running right off the bed is probably relevant less to their depth perception and more to their perception of consequences, they WANT off the bed so they don't perceive the consequences of it because "why would something I WANT hurt me"

I taught my baby to go backwards down the stairs and off the bed the second he started crawling. He’s very careful and smart about his movements now

Actually they tend to have over heightened depth perception, that’s why kids think a foot drop is actually a lot higher than it is
