Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream (Custard Style) Make the Custard * In a bowl, whisk together:     * 3 egg yolks     * ½ cup sugar * In a pot, heat:     * 2 cups heavy cream     * 1 cup milk     * 1 tablespoon vanilla * Heat over medium-low heat until warm, not boiling. * Slowly pour a little of the warm cream into the egg mixture while whisking. * Pour everything back into the pot. * Cook on low heat, stirring constantly, until it slightly thickens and coats the back of a spoon. * Let it cool. ⸻ Freeze the Ice Cream * Pour the custard into a small Ziploc bag and seal it. * Fill a bigger Ziploc bag with:     * Ice     * A lot of salt * Put the small bag inside the big bag. Shake for about 10–15 minutes until thick and frozen. Final Mix * Crush some of the peanut brittle into very tiny pieces. * Crush some popcorn into tiny pieces too. * Fold both into the vanilla ice cream. Serve the ice cream with two sticks of peanut brittle on top.
