@lifen.fu: The Dragon Boat Festival, known as Duanwu Jie, is an ancient Chinese tradition celebrated on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, with a history spanning over 2,000 years. Its most famous origin story centers on Qu Yuan, a loyal poet and minister of the State of Chu during the Warring States period. In 278 BC, heartbroken by his country's fall, he drowned himself in the Miluo River. Local villagers raced out in boats to search for him, beating drums to scare away fish, and threw rice dumplings (zongzi) into the water as offerings to protect his body. These acts of grief became the festival's iconic traditions: dragon boat racing and eating zongzi. Over time, the festival also incorporated practices to ward off evil spirits and summer diseases, such as hanging mugwort and drinking realgar wine, making it a vibrant blend of historical remembrance and seasonal protection. #dragon Boat festivals #dragon boat histories
