@proff_ex: A South African bishop has said that all foreign nationals, documented or not, must leave South Africa. The sad part is that this is a man who stands in a pulpit on Sunday and claims to speak for God. A bishop, of all people, should know this. He should be the last man on this continent telling the foreigner to leave, because his entire calling is built on a God who welcomed the outsider, ate with the rejected, and made the despised Samaritan the hero of His most famous story. When a shepherd starts pointing the wolves toward the sheep, he has forgotten what he was ordained to be. This is not the voice of the church. It cannot be. The collar he wears does not give him permission to bless what God has condemned. To every believer hearing him: test what your leaders say against the word, not the other way around. A title is not the truth. And any gospel that has no room for the stranger is not the gospel of Christ. “The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.” (Leviticus 19:34)
