this works i used this with virgin media been with them for 16 years they wouldnt do better than £53 for 1 gig broadband and free netflix told them i wanted to cancel put my 30 days notice in within the next 24 hours i had someone call me and offer it me for £25 a month i was very very happy 😁

I did this with sky, retentions did nothing. I actually cancelled and went with BT for TV/internet. The sky contract cancelled, BT covered the period, and within the BT cancellation period, I rejoined sky with all the new customer deals for 3 years. They wanted £160 originally a month, I pay £90 for all packages/internet.

Didn’t work with virgin media this year, 1st time in years! Virgin media customer services have really gone down hill, great internet until you get a problem (months of intermittent internet) 🙁

Rang Sky last night to get out tv bill down. Got our tv down to £40 and switched broadband to Sky for £32 per month. 2 1/2 times faster speeds than we’re currently paying Virgin £62 a month for. So out sky bill is only £2 less but we’re getting more services for that money and we’ve saved the £62 a month Virgin bill. Taking the hit an paying the ETF (just under £300) but Sky will credit £200 of that to our account which means 2 months where we aren’t paying anything to Sky because it’ll come out of the credit.

I've worked in retentions, most of the time we beat/match and for some weird reason you get the odd one, who doesn't want their deal beaten, I offer blind based on usage and ask was i cheaper, they normally say yes 🤣

surely everyone knows this by now? if it's common to do this then it makes the 1st call centre team completely pointless if all calls go to the 2nd team, eventually as this becomes more popular it will become less effective

To be honest, I decided to leave my mobile provider completely. Yes, maybe I could’ve managed to get a ‘better deal’, but it’s obvious that at some point they would do the same over time: increase the rates exponentially

I used to have broadband with Sky, they increased my broadband bill to £50.50 when I rung them and asked what deal they were doing on their broadband they said the best they can do is £39.50. I said no thanks that’s still too much, so I went to Gigaclear for £22.00, two days after I had Gigaclear installed I got a email from Sky saying you should have given us a call because we could have done you a deal for £26.00 a month.

When Virgin increases my bill I ask to cancel and tell the next women I am switching to sky, she then says we'll you are a loyal customer let's see if i can lower your payment. £129 went down to £89
