Been a rough road these past couple of years, I often wonder how our daughter understands the world around her as she’s getting older. She doesn’t have her Nali and Chei around anymore. This morning she kept asking where is grandpa? and I kept telling her he’s sleeping, he is really tired, and she repeats what I tell her about them “Grandpa is tired he’s sleeping “she said. I think sometimes to myself when and if ever she will ever find the answers she might search for that I may be unable to provide, even after I’m gone one day. As our daughter gets older I will share everything I’ve been taught by her grandparents and yes they will live through me, after all I’m a both of my parents in a different time. To you out there who don’t have your grandparents around anymore I feel you, that spot that may feel empty is actually them making room for you and your children with memories and teachings, as I’ve always thought about it in my own way. Our elders are moving on and I hope you listen and soak up everything you have been taught, respect, self respect,love, empathy, compassion, honesty, honor, humility and understanding of all things like our language our way of life our ceremonies our songs and existence and our relationships with those we love during this century and ever after that follows. We all face hurdles and obstacles, hardships and challenges through our lives, be patient and resilient focus on your meaning and purpose with what time we are given from our creator. I’ve been through a lot and like they say no one can walk in your shoes but we can all learn from our lessons they call mistakes. I’ve always understood that each of us have our own burdens we choose to carry every day, be easy on yourself and yes we all make mistakes in life, keep moving forward my people, my family and friends, our elders and ancestors made sure our very survival and existence was carried out for you and I today and every day. Thank all of you out there who love and not expecting anything in return, thank all of you out there who stand tall and firm in doing everything you can to ensure your kids and love ones are always safe and loved and supported. I especially appreciate all of you who have supported me and our daughters journey, and thank you for lifting my chin up my dear friend, I was feeling really down with a heavy heart, the reassuring words and encouragement you have shared means a lot, thank you!🫂 and thank you baby for lifting daddy up every single day, daddy loves you more then the stars and moon!💜🫂”It’s teamwork everyday forever “. 🖤
